Self Inspection & Replenishment Instruction

Why do we need a first aid kit?

According to the Workplace Health and Safety Act 2011, employers have a duty of care to workers and others.

The First Aid Code of Practice 2014 provides practical guidance for persons conducting a business or undertaking on how to comply with duties under the WHS Act and Regulations to provide adequate first aid facilities in the workplace.

The WHS Regulations place specific obligations on a person conducting a business or undertaking in relation to first aid, including requirements to provide first aid equipment and ensure each worker at the workplace has access to the equipment.

You want to be sure that you have sufficient first aid supplies to deal with injuries that may occur at your workplace!

How big does my kit need to be?

Our website offers a range of first aid kits. Dependent on the number of workers, the type of work, and where the kit will be placed, you may choose from our wide range including vehicle, kitchen, carry and wall mounted kits. Click on each picture and then on “view details” for pictures, specifications, and an inclusion list.

Why do we need to inspect the kit?

Items in the kits have expiry dates – they lose their effectiveness and some may become dangerous to use.  People use items from the kit and often don’t inform or report.  From a compliance point of view, every item in your first aid kit should be in date and in good working order.

Preparing to inspect the kit:

  • Nominate a person
  • Nominate a time frame – how often the kit will be inspected.
  • Identify the type of kit, minimum requirements and industry relevant items, e.g sawmills go through splinter probes.
  • Make a minimal level checklist or use one of ours available from our website.
